Are you are completist or a pick & choose type of TF toy buy

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

I used to be a completionist, with RID, Armada, early Universe, most all the early Alternators, Energon, right up to Cybertron's giant-planet figures. Sadly, to my own stupidity, I quit for money reasons right before Metroplex (*kicks self*).

Since, I'm a pick & choose, definitely, as there's bills to pay, responsibilities and all, and TFs come second (albeit a close second), and as I realized from Armada, Energon, and Cybertron: Many of these figures sometimes suck! I always collected everything released just because "Gotta catch 'em all" mentality, otherwise, i can't call myself a collector. In reality, I was buying a lot of "enh" figures, which I only realized after finding... I wasn't even taking time to open 'em anymore! I'd buy things and they'd just go straight into storage. I had no room to put 'em on display, so they'd just go straight from their shopping store bags into crates and be stored, and then a few years after, when I opened 'em in a "this should be fun", frenzy, I realized "Wow... this guy sucks".

So now I've unloaded many from what I didn't really want, and I'm focused on the ones I actually *enjoy*, like either still hunting down missing G1s, or Classics/Universe, or even movie or other figures that interest me. I was an idiot in never looking at people's Youtube reviews, which have now become a major part of the decision of if I want or don't want a figure. Sure, it *looks* cool, but then I look at the youtube video reviews, and realize it can't lift it's arms, or it can't pose it's legs, and I'm like "Well, nope, guess I'm skipping that one after all!"

Fuck Youtube reviews. Read ours instead.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

I'm gonna go a step further and say "fuck reviews".

To answer the thread's question, I am a "buy something if I like the look of it but probably not" type of TF toy buy. I haven't bought a new Transformer since Armada. =|
COME TO TFVIEWS oh you already did

See Scourge's sig!

As for the question, I am a completist which has lead to such financial issues that I'm unfortunately no longer a toy collector. At all.
