Following this tip, I hit up my TRU to see if there were any Thundercats there, and...there were! All over, as a matter of fact, pretty much everything except the Classic figures, which is fine because I don't care about those, I'm in this for toys of the new versions (the cartoon's only a few episodes old and I'm already thoroughly enjoying it). That said, I did quite a bit of waffling upon having the toys in front of me. Initially, I'd been certain I only wanted the 6 inch toys, since early photos of the 4 inch guys were less than inspiring. However, once I saw them, they didn't look too bad, and it was especially tempting to just grab the whole team since they were right there. But the 6 inchers looked really nice, so I figured I'd grab Lion-O because if I'm going to restrain myself and just 'try out' the line, it might as well be him, and I decided I wanted Mumm-Ra too, since he just looks unbelievably badass (Panthro looks cool too, but I thoroughly expect him to shelfwarm, honestly). Then I scanned them and found out that TRU wanted eighteen goddamn dollars for these things! So I ended up with just Lion-O. And let me tell you...he just might be worth that eighteen dollars, despite being just a 6 inch figure. This toy is WAY beyond what I would expect from a Bandai of America product. Lion-O's practically got Figuarts-level articulation, with double knees and elbows, and ankle rockers, and wrist hinges that let him do cool stuff with his sword. Plus he comes with powered-up and -down versions of his sword and claw shield, and the little sword can actually store inside of the shield, and the shield can swap out with his hand in either mode, or store on his hip like it's supposed to, or holy crap did they put some effort into this toy. My *only* complaint is that they went with the trademark Stupid Visible Black Bandai Joints, but even those are excusable with how much articulation/posability they crammed into this thing. I definitely think I need that Mumm-Ra now, if he's even remotely as good as this. Will probably wait for these to show up at another store where they'll be cheaper though. Do we even know who's in the next wave of these? I badly hope they do a Tygra. The whole team would be great, actually, lest I have to get the 4 inch toys anyway just to get a complete setup.

I wonder if it's because the PR fandom is less toy-focused than, say, us. I mean, PR toys aren't exactly famous for being good, so I can't see a lot of people enthusiastic about getting them. I mean, that New Megazord was hardly worth any hubbub in the first place. Compare this with the Kamen Rider fandom, who can tell you exactly when and where the next SH Figuarts goes on sale and how many they have pre-ordered, or even the Super Sentai fandom, who've been going crazy over future waves of Gokaiger's Ranger Keys. If you want people to care about your series' toys, you have to actually make cool toys.
