Superman/Batman #85
I think this will be an interesting story... A Gotham reporter is found dead, washed ashore in Metropolis and naturally Clark Kent is sent to Gotham for the scoop. The reporter had supposedly figured out the identity of Batman, making Batman the top suspect for the crime. While Clark is put into a position by a joint venture between the two cities newspapers to finish the story that exposes who Batman is. As Bruce and Clark investigate separately, they find the reporter had indeed learned Batman's true identity, putting them both in a difficult position.
This issue actually reminds me of a discussion we had a while ago here with Batman Inc. starting up. Bruce, for all his brilliance and forethought to keep his identity secret, is shown to have missed some bit of evidence that links him to his early days as Batman. It's interesting how they show Bruce's reaction in this issue. He admits to himself to error is only normal, but for what he does he cannot afford any mistakes, and it shows he's beating himself up for it, all the while Clark is offering to help.
Avengers: The Children's Crusade #6
Scarlet Witch has her memories and powers back, and having realized what she's done, she is only angry at herself. Wiccan manages to snap her out of it but she still has a lot to answer for and the Avengers on their way. Surprisingly, Beast suggests that she tries to fix things by using her power to restore the powers of the mutants who want their abilities back. As they test out if it's even possible however, they find the Avengers aren't the only team that wants answers from Wanda.
It's interesting how this mini-series as been retreading events from "Avengers: Disassembled" and "House of M" and even undoing some of it. I'm curious to know where things will end up when this series concludes with the remaining 3 issues. Although the wait for these issues to be released is painful. It's been nearly a year (#1 came out July 2010) to release 6 issues of this 9 part mini-series.

Re: Comics are awesome.
I will have to try to find the Superman/Batman issue.
Why is it so interesting that Marvel is just resetting the Scarlett Witch....yet again?
Dom
-just found out that "Ultimate Spiderman" is not restarting until fall.

Re: Comics are awesome.
I didn't say anything about resetting Scarlett Witch being interesting.... I was referring to some resets from the events. In the last issue, the Young Avengers inadvertently saved Scott Lang from getting blown up by Jack of Hearts during "Avengers: Disassembled". So he isn't dead anymore. In this issue, as I said, Beast suggests that Wanda tries to fix some of what she did by restoring the powers of the de-powered mutants that want their powers back. They test if she can do that on Rictor and seemingly is successful.Dominic wrote:Why is it so interesting that Marvel is just resetting the Scarlett Witch....yet again?

I dunno. "Look, he is alive....again" is the kind of reset that puts me off of comics.
I remember being excited in the run up to "House of M" when somebody had the (completely rational) idea of killing the over-powered lunatic. Of course, they never followed up on that.

Normally it would for me as well, but Allan Heinberg handles the story extremely well. Rather than bring him back to life, the Young Avengers accidentally save him before he dies thanks to time travel.Dominic wrote:I dunno. There still are 3 issues left of the series, and Wolverine has been trying to do exactly that...I remember being excited in the run up to "House of M" when somebody had the (completely rational) idea of killing the over-powered lunatic. Of course, they never followed up on that.

I wonder if Marvel will deliver, and if it will stick.
Okay, a review from last week:
Batman Incorporated #7:
Wow. Indian Batman, complete with social commentary. And, the bad guy literally kicks a dog....several times. Oh Grant Morrison, however do you fit all of that liberal cred on your organically harvested fair-trade cotton sleeve?
Grade: C/D

-needs to get to this week's books soonish.

Ya know what I forgot to review?
Moon Knight #2 and #3:
Good golly, Mark Specter is a damned lunatic. The hallucinatory guest stars show up again and Spiderdelusion takes a bullet to the face. Bendis turns up the cheesecake dial a bit high in the third issue. If the "Avengers" books are being marketed to mainline readers, "Moon Knight" is apparently being marketed to the "not quite into indie" crowd. Bendis is not pitching too high. But, this book is still work picking up if you are going to the shop anyway.
