adaptation and tie-in discussion (w/ spoilers)

Money, violence, sex, computer graphics, scatalogical humor, racism, robots designed to be rednecks but given European accents, and maybe another sequel to the saga... what's not to love? TF m1, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon and now Age of Extinction.

Rising Storm:

Adaptations and tie-ins often suffer for the fact that the writers and artists are operating under time constraints, editorial directives and incomplete source material. And, unfortunately, "Rising Storm" seems to suffer these problems.

Barber makes a noble effort to movie characters around, reconcile differences between various tie-ins as well as the films, and lead into the movie. "Rising Storm" works if somebody has read "Foundation" or the IDW adaptation of the movie itself. However, as a lead-in to the actual movie (which is what it was intended to be), "Rising Storm" does not work, and it is not quite good enough to stand on its own, (as "Reign of Starscream" was).

Still, the problems are likely despite Barber's efforts, more than being caused by him. Points for effort, if not execution.

Grade: B/C
