Why not do this:

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

Why not do this:

Post by Mirage »

Replace that damn line of Cybertron scouts that's been polluting the dollar stores for the past 5 years (and, oddly enough, Walmart last year) with Windcharger and all his unreleased (or barely released) buddies? Rumble, Frenzy, all the HFTD repaints. Doesn't seem like there's going to be any other venue for them any time soon, unless it's as a store exclusive. Even if they wanted to shoe-horn them into the DOTM line, the Scouts have been re-worked into Human Alliance, so that price point doesn't even exist anymore.

Makes sense to me...

I don't actually think the Scouts have been reworked into Human Alliance, I think it's more like they replaced PCC.

Incidentally, I would be okay with this.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

The problem is that dollar stores do not buy inventory the way that regular stores do. Dollar stores and the like buy up inventory, (from all categories), that the larger stores do not take. That is why stores in the same chain do not always get the same stuff. Every so often, Hasbro might release merchandise specifically to dollar stores, (I think the technical term is "category 6"), such as the recent Minicon repaints. But, for the most part, they buy remaindered merchandise.

Why does that matter here? The simple fact is that Windcharger and those other figures may not have been produced in large enough quantities for a release at a dollar store to help.

Speaking of those Cybertron repaints, I really hope I run into the blue Backstop at some point. That thing looks pretty cool.

Anyway. Yeah, I'd be a hundred percent down with this. I mean, I'm sure there'll be repaints eventually, which, for Rumble, I'm a hundred percent okay with that, because I like the black and red one, and could care less about the blue one. But for Windcharger, I dunno, I could see people not liking being stuck with Tailgate if it's Windcharger they're after.

For my part, I sort of want a Tailgate. And a Wipe-Out and Decepticharge. This mold could be really versatile!

With Rumble and Frenzy, people are likely to want both. Refresh my memory now though, Wipeout?

Tailgate would require a new head mould. But, Decepticharge and Rook could be straight recolours.

Trypticon's sidekick dude. He only showed up in Marvel G1 #27, and then Snarl took him out. Pretty much would be a straight repaint of Tailgate, assuming Tailgate got a new head.

Y'know, if Hasbro wanted to do a three-pack of Frenzy and Rumble vs. Windcharger, as a TRU exclusive or something, that would be okay. I dunno, I wish they'd just get the toys out somehow.

Of course, I never even saw Thundercracker/Wheeljack/Warpath wave at all around here, and I really really want those toys, so I'm as desperate as ever for the last-gasp Generations stuff.

They're just now coming out at Walmarts. Watch for them, they hit a couple of our stores this past week.

I'm not so sure they all WERE remaindered merchandise. Maybe in the first couple of years, but by now, surely some of those copies have been produced especially for the dollar chains. At least the new Backstop, that's clearly a newly produced figure.

Well I'll keep an eye out, but I doubt they'll make it to my Wal-Mart, which tends to lack good stuff, and still has piles of Skullgrin and Cliffjumper jamming the two-or-three pegs they've still got devoted to red box/gold box TF stuff. *sigh*, and don't even get me started on Grapple and Lugnut.
