Heart of Darkness discussion

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

Was Duane a name in the 80s though? I might be mistaken, but I thought she was one of the people who got her start on TF.

You know some strange kids Gomess. "Web World" was one of the best episodes of the original series. Yeah, there are some blatant animation errors, especially at the beginning. But, the episode as a whole is pretty good.

Is that the opinion of you as a 30-odd year-old (or whatever you are) guy, or what you and the kids you played Transformers with actually thought of it? I agree, but I'm not about to pretend anyone wanted to recreate Webworld in the playground when we all still remembered Heavy Metal War.

Exactly why it was a great episode! Would've been wonderful as part of an actual overarcing plot, from the opening to the ending.

I liked "Web World" then and now. And, the episode did fit in with the recurring theme in season 3 that Galvatron was crazy.

Of course, a series with rotating writers and production teams would not lend itself to having multi-episode plots and such.

No, it was a shame. I wonder how much of the plot:screenwriting was actually done by Duane, 'cos if it was all her I'd definitely like to see her work on G1 again.

ANYWAY, Heart of Darkness!!

What do you want to know about "Holy Hand Gre-", "Heart of Darkness"?

I think O6 hit it perfectly. I had not heard of Abnett before this but even I have heard of the names he mentioned.

-I suppose that makes Abnett a B-lister.

Abnett has a larger body of work, and he is known more *outside* of comics as a novelist. His novels sell. I would be willing to bet that if you counted up shelf space at a book store, Abnett would individually beat any of the other writers mentioned. Miller is the only one that might actually match him, and he would likely still be known as a comic guy first.

I am not saying that there is anything wrong with comics. But, I am saying that Abnett has more weight than you are giving him credit for.

Fair enough. You're more in tune to that kind of stuff than I am.

I have no idea what Heart of Darkness is! No, really. If I even read the first post of this thread, I sure as heck don't remember. The reason I keep bringing it up is because I'm very conscious of my reputation for derailing. =3

"Heart of Darkness" is set after the "-ation" books. It shows Galvatron and the other Dead Universe characters dealing with one threat or another. There is some speculation that the threat is Unicron.

It is generally, and not unreasonably, assumed that it is set before "Infestation". During "Infestation", Galvatron uses a "holy hand grenade" sort of McGuffin, that he referred to as the "Heart of Darkness", to blow up a bunch of zombies. (Yeah, "Infestation" sucked about as much as you are thinking it did.)
