Heart of Darkness discussion

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

Pick it up. I Just hate the art on this book it looks so amateur, I mean seriously the proportions of the characters are all over the place. The one good thing I can say about the art is that the background design on the last pages was somewhat interesting. I'm still not hooked on the story then again it was mostly setup so lets see how it goes from here.

There are a lot of things to like about this issue. Finally, someone has picked up the dangling plot threads from the Dead Universe and Galvatron's unit and done something with them. It's about time! It helps the IDW Universe feel a little more connected again, at least to me. I'm not a big fan of the art though. It's very detailed and the artist clearly put a lot of work into it, but Sydew's right about proportions and model consistency. It does the job, but not as well as I'd like.

Setup, but good setup. I'm in for the duration.

For some reason, the art is not bothering me. I still want an IDW accurate Scourge figure.

I am in decisively, though not entirely, for Abnett.

I actually enjoyed this issue. The art didn't bother me at all. I've come to expect changing character models at this point so as long as the main characteristics are there I don't really care. This issue seems to be doing a lot of cleanup from the Ongoing and Infestation. Jhiaxus was in Infestation and that needed to be explained (and I'm assuming this takes place before Infestation). I also like seeing more of IDW's take on Galvatron. We've never really had one that wasn't "Megatron on crack" before and it's nice to see this version given some real personality. And so far I like it. He's methodical, logical, a detective of sorts. Not necessarily evil but not exactly good either. A bit Shockwave-esque in his approach to whatever goals he has. I'm also interested to see how this plays out: What happened to Gorlam Prime (AKA Cybertron II: Electric Boogaloo), what happened to the portal to the dead Universe and what "warning" Galvatron's Dark Matrix is giving. So yeah, I'm in. So far, so good.

I agree, It's very refreshing that Galvatron is his own person and not Megatron remade.

I would disagree that IDW Galvatron is rational, let along similar to Shockwave. Shockwave is shown to be a rationalist to the point that he cannot comprehend the irrational behavior of others. (Look at his incomprehending reaction to the Dynobots in "Spotlight".) Galvatron is simply driven to seek his goals. While he is effective at this, his goals are more visceral and emotional, (relating to nationalism and pride), instead of Shockwave's more rational goals (basic survival).

Still yeah, IDW Galvatron is growing on me.

I was saying that there was a subtle similarity between the two. Not that they are exactly alike. Sorry for the confusion.

I am annoyed that Galvatron was paired up with Cyclonus and Scourge yet again. Not Cyclonus so much, but when Scourge was thrown into the mix it was a little too retro for this new take on Galvatron. Here's hoping that they keep Unicron far away from him. I'm worried that this might be where they're headed with the storyline, but I hope I'm wrong.

I'm wondering what happened to the army of Sweeps that were there the last time we saw Scourge? Who else would Galvatron have been paired with? Besides Jhiaxus but they wound up with him anyway.

I am really hoping Anderson is wrong about Unicron. But, I would by lying if I said I was not a bit worried as well.

At least some of the sweeps died in "Infestation". But, there may well be more of them. (The art in "Infestation" was bad enough that it is hard to tell. But, I think Jhiaxus had at least one with him.)
