Re: On a Mission
What's it supposed to be? Bernades?
Anyway, you can get the Alucard Spear in the Saturn version of SotN, apparently.

Fernandez. Y'know, like they translated it for Carrie. I could almost forgive "Bernandes", but they miss out a whole letter! Ah well. Higharolla Kockamamie, and all that.
Well, I haven't come across it... Interesting to think, though, Iga MUST have known he'd already used Alucard's name in a previous game when he gave it to Eric's spear. Or... did he? No, actually I can believe that he forgot. Alucard wasn't really a major character until SotN.
P.S. Saifa is an actual Spanish name, too. Sypha is.. not. Ah well. Again.

Re: On a Mission
Alucard was 'a character,' anyway. He was right there in CV3. I dunno, they retconned in an explanation, I'm cool with it. (I find it hard to believe Iga sits around thinking about continuity. He's like Miyamoto.)
Re: On a Mission
Oh, he does. He even retconned that Dracula was specifically revived by the Bathory family in 1576 (Christopher's games, on the old Game Boy), just to set up Erszbet Bathory's role in Vampire Killer. The retcon equivalent of clipping a single toenail.
I still don't really buy that Alucard could even make a spear with the same power as the whip by himself. THAT's the game I wanna see, IGA. What Alucard was up to between 1797 and 1917. Spanning that many years. Hell yes.
...O noes, if the creation of the Vampire Killer whip required the sacrifice of Sara Trantoul's soul, then the Alucard Spear must...... NUUUU MARIAAAAAA T_____T

Re: On a Mission
I don't think it's that the spear has the same power as the Vampire Killer, it's more like the Vampire Killer is weaker when it's not held by a Belmont, and the spear is supposed to make up for that difference. At least, that's what I got from reading the Wiki entries. I dunno, I'm not too concerned about CV continuity.
Re: On a Mission
I'll say this right now. As long as it's a fun game, I could care less about video game continuity.
Re: On a Mission
I play video games for the same reason I watch movies or read books; the story. I realise this is unusual. Whatevs.
(This is probably why I play so few.)

Re: On a Mission
I can appreciate a game with a good story, it's just not a requirement. Example: I like Zelda. The story is one of the things I like. But I also like Tetris which has no story.
Re: On a Mission
I can honestly say I've never enjoyed a game without some semblance of story. Coincidence? Read the book.
