The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

I wonder if maybe you just got a bad copy or you just have a lot more personal preferrences for Jazz that weren't there but some of the things you mention just seem nitpicky. Like the door wings. Jazz did have them in G1. That is he had them until that cartoon decided he didn't. And the paint on the roof. Really? NO TF figure EVER has been able to match that. Tracks certainly doesn't (his roof is actually darker blue than the rest of the car) nor do any of the others with windshields. I dunno, between the two I really think we got hosed on Tracks more than Jazz by a long shot. Jazz I can at least transform easily. Tracks is STILL a pain in the ass to transform.
I actually got Jazz expecting to like him, and was just immensely let down by the whole thing. Yeah, other TFs have non-matching roof paint, but Jazz's white doesn't even come close, and he's got that big obvious stripe that just *stops*. In terms of transformation, I'm the opposite. I've got Tracks's folding-the-arms-in-the-back thing down pat, while I still have to wrestle with Jazz's '4' panels for ages every time. It actively discourages me from transforming him back to vehicle mode. And the black-painted-white arms are just unforgivable.
Yeah, the G1 Jazz toy had doors that *could* stick out as wings, but you didn't *have* to have them that way, and EVERY SINGLE fictional appearance of Jazz had them hidden away. The least the designers of this toy could've done was give us a choice.
I'm wondering if we just got bummer copies of the opposite figures then. I may have to get another copy of Tracks to experiment this (and if I have to turn him into Road Rage in the process then so be it). That back end always seems to be a problem regardless of which mode I'm switching to while Jazz's legs seem to just fold up easily. I do see what you mean about the forearms, but that's really more of a "WTF?" than completely unforgiveable. The roof on mine is also not that bad. That is it's no worse than any other Autobot. I will agree that the stripe should go all the way though.
Also, I've always preferred the door wings. The comic originally had them too. Until they started copying the cartoon model. Cause you know, after the cartoon came out, absolutely everything else had to copy it exactly *cough**cough* FIBRIR *cough**cough* I guess a fold down option would have been nice for those that would prefer he didn't have wings.

It's not Jazz's legs that are the problem (I've mostly found my way around the feet and the spring-shins), it's getting those hood panels with the '4' on them up into the rest of the car. Getting them to set right is just a pain. And maybe the forearms on yours look okay, but on my copy they look *really* bad.

Oh ok, I thought you were having problems with the legs. Yeah, those panels on the front of mine are a little recessed but no worse than the G1 figure. I suppose they could lock together a little bit tighter. I did try fiddling with the wings a bit and I've found that if you move the windshield down you can get the doors angled slightly behind him, but from the front it looks like he had a back pack with speakers on it. So I guess this toy you would ultimately have to decide if you like a speaker backpack better than door wings. I really thought they were on ball joints. If they were it would be a lot easier to fold them behind him. Also, I'm going to restart my parts molding thing here within the next month or so, didja want me to mold you some forearms to match the rest of him?
I also can't get his guns to hold together for more than three seconds. It's because it's all friction on those two tiny tabs; he needs a peg for it to work fully. Part of me wishes he had another weapon, too, but hey. It'd also be cool if his "removable drone" could combine with the weapon, too, now that I think of it.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

True, but the drone is still a nice homage to the original figure, and the way that the interior robot could combine with the shell.

Neither orientation of guns-on-top-of-each other works, they both fell victim to quality control demons? Yowch. Mine hold together fine, and I just realized that he can two-hand the weapon quite nicely in combined mode. Sweet.
