Re: Transformers - ongoing series
Transformers #14
Two very good issues in a row. Things are definitely looking up for the series, in my view. Got the Nick Roche Soundwave cover.
My first thought was: it's great to see Don Figeroa back. I've missed his artwork, and his new-style Transformers rendering. He gives the book a much needed sense of energy, much like Nick Roche, and his humans are just about as "cartoony", for lack of a better word.
As for the story, Costa gives us some background on Bumblebee's would-be assassin, and it turns out that the gun the shooter used does indeed look like Megatron's pistol mode, complete with extensions. Bumblebee clings to life, while Ratchet returns from China with the other Autobots... who are shot down en route. Brawn and Ultra Magnus (I wondered where he'd been the last six issues) have some good scenes together. And then Soundwave turns up to bust out captured Decepticons...
A lot happens this issue. I think it's safe to say that the pacing issue isn't a problem here. The plot moves well, and we end on a mystery. How exactly can a decapitiated Megatron head be on Earth, when Megatron has been undergoing repairs and rebuilding out in space? This is almost an Ironhide #1-level cliffhanger here...
Very good. I like the fact that we're finally getting some Autobot/Decepticon conflict, not just humans versus Transformers.

One theory is that Soundwave more or less built Megatron an entirely new body, which would free the old one up to be dumped on Earth as a source of inspiration for arms dealers.
Re: Transformers - ongoing series
That's what I'm assuming since that's clearly the same Megatron head that Spike shot.

Speaking of Soundwave rebuilding people, what the heck is Rumble doing back? He totally died in AHM, I couldn't forget something that badly drawn.

No, he wasn't dead. Just injured, at least according to McCarthy.BWprowl wrote:Speaking of Soundwave rebuilding people, what the heck is Rumble doing back? He totally died in AHM, I couldn't forget something that badly drawn.
Rumble was shot in the face by the rocket launcher, not the iShockwave. He was downed, Soundwave got pissed off and lost control of the radio waves for a short moment. Rumble was never supposed to be dead, however he was supposed to be damaged.
Re: Transformers - ongoing series
Megatron died. The new Megatron is really Shockwave in disguise.

Re: Transformers - ongoing series
Maybe, maybe not. Could be the same old Megatron in a new body. We'll have to wait and see.
Re: Transformers - ongoing series
I obviously could get behind this theory.
