I fully agree, and felt similarly about the answers over on ActionFigs.com, as did a few of those readers. http://www.actionfigs.com/index.php?cat ... cleid=2471
So they're saying that the PCC's were never going to be like the old scramble city combiners. The concept of drones as vehicles/limbs and not robots was there from the get-go.
That is what they're saying, but it somewhat contradicts what their panelists said at Comic-Con. At least they weren't dismissive about it though.

Shockwave wrote:If that's the case with the PCC's then why do they feel so half-assed? I mean, if your transformer is going to turn into a limb why not make it look like a limb with like fingers and/or toes instead of looking like a retarded monkey took a chainsaw to a helicopter?
That, sir, would be a "follow-up". :p

It's the tone that really helps, these answers feel like they have a tone of respect for the integrity of the fan-company relationship here that has felt missing from a lot of recent rounds.
Dominic wrote:Hasbro gave a servicable answer about characters in the newly merged all-inclusive line. It is intended to represent the brand/franchise over time, rather than work as a cohesive whole unto itself. They even admit it is a bit messier than normal for them. I can largely live with that.

Their answers to the TF Wiki about where the PCC , and some vaguely movie (but apparently not movie) characters "live" are not helpful even by Hasbro standards.

I found them over at AllSpark.

Ah, this nicely dove-tails with the author intent discussion in the comics thread.

Yo.

I am not sure what to make of that one. They said the PCCs aren't in the universe, but they're in the modern day, and the modern day's been in the movies.

I dunno, I'm not gonna worry that much about where they fit in.

Wow, thanks for the link. Jesus Christ does that answer muck things up. I get the feeling it was answered by someone not intimately familiar with the brand who doesn't understand the way the brand and fans talk about the multiple-continuities thing and the new canon being built from WFC and Exodus. If nothing else, it certainly misses the whole "Dinobots" addition to the PCC line. I would guess that the answer was taken from someone newish at team Hasbro TF who thinks of the brand only as a Hasbro Toy Line rather than a larger universe culled from multiple media.

It's some little pocket universe where there's no Megatron or Optimus Prime and it's every bot for himself!

It's an addition to the Machine Wars continuity! Finally!

It's funny, because I could totally just enjoy these things as toys that don't need backstory, but....it does kind of bug me to not know what line the PCCs are in. At least they get bios, that's something.

I guess they could pretty well just fit into whatever toy line kids want 'em to. They're not clearly movie-d out that bad, but they could sort of fit in there, and they go with Classics all right.

Fuck you, Scourge, now I want them.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

Sorry JT. I was really fatigued yesterday.

Actually, "Machine Wars" was a weird transitional line, as is the case with "Power Core Combiners", so Scourge's idea works.

I also enjoy these as just good fiddlin' fun. All things considered, they are probably best left vague. They look most like that weird "mid-movie-TFU" aesthetic that has been creeping in. (That new Autobot 'copter is a good example of this. He is in movie packaging, but the face is not quite a movie face.)

Well, "idea" is a strong word, mainly I was being a goof, but clearly it works for O6, at least.

Here's something: Steamhammer's bio says that he knows there's another group of Decepticons out there with the same name as his. He doesn't care, the power he got from the Power Core process is enough to destroy anyone who challenges him.

Thatms kind of interesting for a couple reasons. Not the least of which is it identifies the Constructicon's arch-enemy as the Constructicons.

Interesting. Apparently one Transformer using another's name is a HUGE insult.
