latest TF Fan-wank, (erm, Fan Club), story

The originals... ok, not exactly, but the original named "The TransFormers" anyway. Take THAT, Diaclone!
Generation 1, Generation 2 - Removable fists? Check. Unlicensed vehicle modes? Check. Kickass tape deck robot with transforming cassette minions? DOUBLE CHECK!!!

Cuz Gomess asked for it: (from the first few pages)

Oh, so clever. See, this is from before the war...or something.
“CombatiCONS? As in DeceptiCONS? Not exactly an inspiring name…” The orange and blue robot pointed his thumb
at five Special Forces robots standing in front of him like an impenetrable wall. The tallest turned his head towards the
former dock worker who he towered over. His mask and visor managed to hide his expression entirely, but Metalhawk
interpreted it somewhere between amusement and condescension. Sentinel Major edged his way between the two groups of
Elite Guard soldiers, with a hand on his chest as though he was already complimenting himself.
“No, no, no. Combaticons. As in ‘COMBATing the DeceptiCONS.’
Yay, ALL CAPS WRITING MEANS THAT THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!1!
“AT THIS POINT, I’D LIKE TO POINT OUT THAT THIS IS MAINLY SPECUALTION. ESPECIALLY ON ALPHA
TRION’S PART.” Alpha Trion looked away. It was as though he knew all this. As though he had experienced it. However,
for his reasons, he didn’t want to be the one to reveal it. Or perhaps Metalhawk was reading too much into things again.
“WHAT THIS TEAM HAS FOUND IS A BUILDING. AN OLD ONE AS MOST OF THE INTERIOR IS RUST AND
DECAY. YES, THERE ARE TWO DIFFERING SECTORS HELD WITHIN, BUT MANY BELIEVE THEM NOT TO
HOLD THE SAME MEANING AS ALPHA TRION DOES.”

“They prefer ‘female Autobots’.” Dion spoke from experience, and paused for a moment as he remembered a friend.
“You probably shouldn’t call them ‘girls’ to their face.”

Oh wow. I've never actually read one of these things before but Jesus.

Yeah, and they treat these stories as an incentive to join.

Heh, you fixed my quote for truth?

In all seriousness though, I do not think many people join the club to read the bad prose stories. The free toy is probably the biggest draw. What amazes me is that there are people who can claim professional writing credit for these stories.

Yeah, I'm thinking of joining back up next year to get Side Burn. It was completing the gestalt that kept me in for awhile, though I did enjoy some of the bios in the magazine. Never read the prose fiction though.

Are the stories always set on Cybertron?

That's an instant buzzkill for me, when it comes to TF fiction. It'd be like a Harry Potter fanfic with no magic. The *Robots in Disguise* aspect is what sold the toys to me when I was a kid, so why the heck would I want to know about four-million-year-old-mixtures-between-amusement-and-condescension-behind-faceplates-on-a-planet-where-they-don't-need-to-be-in-disguise?? Ugh.

Claire's opinion on the Combaticons' name origin:
"STUNT DRIVING.... YESSSSSS!"

Are there any made-up adjectives or bouts of impenetrably purple prose? Those are my favourites, thanks to Twilight. I'll be muchly chagrined if I find them to be absented from this endeavour.
COME TO TFVIEWS oh you already did

I am not reading any more of that story Gomess. You want to read it, you email me and I can forward it to you.

You want feces tha badly, then you go sewer diving my good man. You go sewer diving.

That said, yeah, Sideburn looks sweet. And, not having any pressings of that mould, I have a bit more incentive to join up.

Gah! Seriously. I had no idea Hot Rod was this freakin' popular. The Henkei version (which wasn't an exclusive) is almost as expensive to get as the exclusive Seekers (~120$)! There are various other repaints that have come out or are coming out, but they pale in decoration comparitively.

Either way, I'm in for next year, seriously want that Side Burn.

I am seriously considering it. But, I might just get the cheaper Target HotRod recolor.
