Hot damn, it's Dirge!

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

I can certainly see that approach to collecting. But the difference between you and Dom is that you take that approach willingly because you've determined that it's the best one for you with your available resources. Dom's complaint is that Hasbro is basically forcing that approach on him because they are not releasing anything consistent in one line and would prefer to allocate his resources into a single line/aesthetic.

That is is exactly.

I skip most of the older stuff at shows because it is, frankly, crap. I hate to be the one to point it out, but G1 seekers are garbage. I can think of nothing I like about them. I had a complete set of the original 3 along with Dirge and Ramjet, all in C7 or higher, about 10 years ago. I sold them all off by '02, as soon as the PVC figures came out.

I would rather have fewer toys in one aesthetic than scattered bits of miscellaneous toys and lines. It looks horrible.

I do not even like mixing UT with beast era. And, these new post movie greebled up "normal" TFs are yet another aesthetic that looks wrong next to others.
(because that's far more important, to me, than the specific little vehicle details you're talking about--seriously, when ClaScream's first pics showed up, I barely noticed his wings were different.)
The paint differences are prounounced, especaily on the back of Starscream's jet/robot forms. Henkei Thrust and Dirge's wings are meaningfully differnet from the originals.

And Reprolabels even has the scratched Autobot logo to put on Mirage. So, I was looking at my Henkei seekers this weekend and noticed that Ramjet is the only without shiny on the launchers. And I suddenly felt Dom's pain realizing that there would be no way to get shiny versions of Ramjet's launchers. Bah. Paint thinner will remove the weird detailing easily without damaging the figures, but I see what you mean by "consistent aesthetic".
