Sure, people have been making jokes about the titles, but the titles themselves have no racial meaning. It's just the colors. So no, it would be ridiculous if the English titles were different because people can't handle separating the difference.

You'd be surprised Sparky, especially with how...sensitive the Western market can be to this sort of thing. Particularly with how wide-reaching a franchise like Pokemon is.

Ok, I know exactly zilch about Pokemon, but are you guys telling me that, in a game genre where the differentiation from one title to the next is nothing more than color, that they would actually refrain from using the colors black and white because SOMEONE, somewhere might maybe find it offensive? That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard! It's exactly this kind of pussification of America that just irritates me to no end! Agh!

My point exactly. It would be stupid if they had to change the English titles from Black and White. Personally, I doubt that they will. If anyone is offended by it, they need to get a grip. There is nothing offensive about color.

Also, it's not always colour. There was Crystal, and Ruby and Sapphire.

They probably won't. Whoever heads their US operations is probably already pussified to the point of changing them. Just like they did when they took the blood out of the SNES version of Mortal Kombat. With any luck maybe they'll remember the lessen they learned from that when everybody got so pissed that the blood wasn't kept that they went and bought a Genesis instead and then Nintendo left the blood in subsequent versions. Let's face it, they've always been the Disney of the video game world.

If they go the gem route they could change them to Onyx and Pearl I suppose. I have to confess that since I really can't stand Pokemon I'm not likely to find out what happens with this. I just hate pussification on this level.

Ninty of America was like that in the early 90s, yes, but they've softened since then. The last I heard of major censorship was with Ganondorf coughing up blood at the end of Ocarina of Time, which got changed to green--and IIRC this was only because of the ESRB.
