Clampdown and Police Sunstreaker pics are up

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

Good stuff. I can't tell from the pics, did you end up using the white thighs and forearms for Copstreaker or for Clampdown?

Grey on Clamp Down, white on Police Streaker.

(I effectively swapped the heads with them, as described in the blog.)

The pics are pretty vague on that though.

Yeah, and it looks like earlier ones have it vice versa. I hadn't considered that the white could stay, I'm still trying to decide if that's an overload of white balance or not. The original had black forearms and shins, but so did Spinout and Regular Sunstreaker, so.

The problem with painting the white or grey portions of the legs is two fold.

First, taking them apart is more difficult that it looks. I actually managed to gauge out the screw shafts on my G2 Sideswipe while trying to put the legs back together.

The second is more serious. When recoloring a toy, it helps to do straight palet swaps. All of one color consistently becomes another. For example, red/yellow become white. I ran into this problem as well with G2 Sideswipe. I managed to paint the head, hands and crotch. But, the elbows were problematic. (There is a reason that toy stays in vehicle mode.) Changing the thigh or arms would require that I change the visible chunks of the body to match. Remember, those bodies do not neatly segment. And, painting them would likely get messy.

What do you think of Police Streaker's ears?

Right, yeah. I recall a similar difficulty while doing my cruddy rudimentary Spinout/Tigertrack partswaps. (Wow, I forgot I did those until just now.)

I hadn't noticed until you pointed them out, but that's a really funny idea. It feels like more of a TFTM New Character kind of thing (because all the S3 characters had stupid quirks about them) than a Diaclone one, but it's pretty neat. I can imagine them glowing as he speaks.

When I did the Spinout/Tigertrack partswap, I ended up busting the peg on Sidswipe's door. I had previously put a dab of glue on to keep it from freespinning (it was once my primary Sideswipe) and evidently put it back on too soon. I must have been slowly twisting the peg off every time I transformed it, and when I ripped the door off to do the custom, the peg stayed. :x

So, if anyone's got a junker Sideswipe (or just the driver side door) my Spinout would be eternally grateful.
I disappear.

That actually happend on one of my Sideswipes as well. I think it was the one that became G2 Sideswipe. I am not sure though.
