QC warning re: Sunstreaker and Prowl

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

I always figured the "brother" designation would be due to complimentary programming or construction. For example, they would have similar lines of code or perhaps parts from the same inventory.

Along similar lines, "descended" could be based on upgraded designs of each-other. For example, mkI, mkI-A, mkII.....

It's not so much 'bad' writing as poorly-thought-out writing. I'm sure the whole "brother" thing stems from Budiansky, and all.

It could also be that, at some point, they were planning on Sunstreaker and Sideswipe actually just being repaints of each other, and then Hasbro realized, "Oh, hey, we can use this other Lambo toy for him instead."

I've seen more Prowls lately in stores that have better-looking paint on the fenders, but I have yet to partake. Any confirmed news that these are indeed better - better paint integrity and not tacky to the touch?

Onslaught's top cannons come off at the blink of an eye, Hasbro's got these locked down in the packaging but I foresee a lot of losses on this part.

I'll just glue mine on. Worked fine with Super Brawl.

It was only the first wave that was like that. Mine's not like that at all.

My Prowl is fine. You want a Boston Prowl JT, as those are more likely to be from later waves?

So after seeing pics of Sunstreaker's combined gun, I tried it on mine to no avail. Examination showed that there was some flash on the inside of the foldy parts, so I carved that flat, but still nothing. The tolerances on this are just too tight, so I carved off a thin bit on the gun and it holds, but just barely.

They are thinner and have less structural support at the base, they will definitely break if you glue them down.

Thanks for the offer Dom, but I don't think I'm going to bother, if I do I'll just buy a new one at Target and then return my old one in its place.

Sometimes I'm glad it takes a while for toys to filter out here, since we usually don't get first-run QC issues. I've not seen Universe in person yet, mind, Legends aside.

Damn. No way to reinforce the clips?

I don't see how, it's just not wide enough to build anything off of or into.

Superglue or clear nail polish may work.
