And an argument from months ago is solved.
Spoilers:
Unrelated: Who's in the Wreckers cover?
Spoilers:
Thundy is back. Dom was right, this wouldn't stick. Though I guess if it's for an actual decent reason, I won't mind too much. Also, the disconnect between Don's art and Wildman's is pretty hilarious--God knows what's gonna happen these days with this. IDW is becoming a mess.

Re: All Hail Megatron Discussion thread
I'm sure I'd read in one of the various interviews over the last month that said character's fate will be decided in the ongoing, so it's not a surprise. Still, it's good to see it confirmed... there's potential to be tapped, particularly after his behavior in AHM.Onslaught Six wrote:And an argument from months ago is solved.

After Skywarp, Blitzwing and Starscream came back after being eviscerated by Megatron, and after Blitzwing (again) came back after being heavily damaged by Roller, I'm not too fussed about still being alive.

Re: All Hail Megatron Discussion thread
Maybe we should start a video game discussion in the general forum area then? But in the meantime...Onslaught Six wrote:Is it weird that I'm now more interested in the MM discussion than AHM?
The 3 SNES MMX games are my favorite MM games personally, with X2 probably being my favorite of those three. X4 I personally find to be a bit too easy but still a good game. X5 when I first played it years ago I thought was impossible but now that I'm better at it I really like it. Don't really care for the X games after that though.Anyway, the first X game was pretty good, but for some reason I could never get into X2 or X3, so I stopped trying after that. I have similar problems with the NES MM series after MM3. (MM2 is the favourite, incidentally.) Though, thank Capcom for MM9.
The Classic MM games, the first three are great games, but I also liked 7, 5 on the Gameboy and 9 looks like a lot of fun although I haven't played it personally.
A friend of mine owned MM2 and 3 for NES when we were kids but they got rid of them when the SNES came out. Still, we had a lot of fun with those games back in the day. We never actually beat them but we got past the 8 Robot Masters at least. The only classic MM game I still own is MMV for Gameboy.Shockwave wrote:I have the first 3 MMs on the original NES (I never get rid of games or systems).
Now back on topic...
I so called it.Onslaught Six wrote:And an argument from months ago is solved.

Re: All Hail Megatron Discussion thread
Have any of you ever noticed, when discussing this particular series, how unreasonable the criticism often is? And how personal it gets? For example, I've discussed the series with a poster over on TFW2005 who is firmly convinced that AHM was not meant to be in continuity at first, and despite insistence from Casey Coller (who actually made an appearance in the thread during the discussion, so his account was firsthand) and Shane McCarthy that it was, refuses to believe either, in essence calling both a liar. I've seen McCarthy labeled as too lazy to follow continuity. I've also seen criticisms of this story that go out of their way to ignore story facts and themes in an effort to shore up their complaints. The amount of vitriol over a piece of fiction amazes me sometimes.
Anyone else noticed this? Why such a strong and often personal reaction to AHM? It's bizarre.

I haven't really browsed the comics forums on TFW and this is the only other place I post so I haven't noticed it. Although now that you mention it, I might go over and check 'em out.

This is about the only place where I've seen AHM discussed in a reasonable manner. Go to just about any other forum, and you'll see some way out of proportion behavior with regard to AHM. Makes me thankful for this forum where I actually enjoyed the discussion.Shockwave wrote:I haven't really browsed the comics forums on TFW and this is the only other place I post so I haven't noticed it. Seriously, it seems like facts don't matter, and personal insults towards the creative team take the place of constructive criticism of the story itself.

Re: All Hail Megatron Discussion thread
Welcome to the world of comics fans. Not to attack Dom in any fashion--far from it--but I've seen him do similar things to mainstream DC/Marvel writers in the past. Whether those attacks are as unfounded as they appear to be with AHM is a different matter altogether, but.
As much as I try to make it seem like it's not, I'm not trying to condemn Dom's opinions against any comic writers. (What's it say about this place that I'm really afraid of offending one of us?
)
Anyway, the thing I find funny is that prior to AHM, all I ever saw were complaints about Furman's story. The contrast is hilarious. And now I'm seeing nothing but people whining about the ongoing, too.
But yes, primarily most of them are ignoring the really cool parts of AHM to focus on the negatives. It doesn't help that, traditionally, folk like 86 and myself have a habit of fixating on one or two particularly awesome traits of something that somehow manage to outweigh all the bad. "Sure, this dude has no waist or head articulation, and his knees are cruddy, but dude! 'Chaingun hands!'"
