Bumblebee mini-series
Preview pages available here: http://www.previewsworld.com/public/def ... 89837&ssd=
My original impulse was just to skip the book, since to be honest, I'm not too fond of the art. And Bumblebee's character model is different from the usual IDW version, which irks me. And I'm not all that interested in the character, even if it is the G1 version.
But, it looks like some major bits of the plot related to the ongoing storyline take place here. And it's honestly interesting to see an unassuming little guy like Bumblebee step up and try to play the leader. So maybe I'll pick this up after all and give it a try.
And Skywarp's still on Earth? Huh?

I like the look of this a lot. The art style works for me, it's considerably different than what we've seen in TF art lately. And hard to tell from a few pages, but so far the writing seems pretty good. Of course, I've really enjoyed Zander Cannon's stuff on Top Ten, so I'm kinda predisposed towards the guy. Anyway, that's enough to make me check it out.

Re: Bumblebee mini-series
I was totally uninterested until Bumblebee became leader, and I saw these preview pages. This looks...good. Omega's situation is particularly cruddy for the poor big guy. He spends eons being all 'I AM OMEGA SUPREME AND I AM AWESOME AND UNSTOPPABLE,' and now he has to live in a damn cave. I do like that it seems that he's drawn without a face, just the original toy's big visormask, but I have to question Bumblebee's dialogue--is he directly implying Omega has a new body? Because it doesn't seem all that different from how Guido Guidi drew him.

Looks good. I am not conceptually against bumbling Autobots. And, in this case, it is credible.
(Correct solution: Turn Omega loose on a city. Claim needed fuel. Go home.)

It seems that Omega did scan an Earth form (and used up too much energon to even transform into that form in the process), but yeah, he doesn't look any different.Onslaught Six wrote:but I have to question Bumblebee's dialogue--is he directly implying Omega has a new body? Re: Bumblebee mini-series
I read the exchange as Omega talking about going from robot to rocket base mode, not some new form entirely. He's thinking that he'll be less cramped if he goes to alt mode.
I have to say that "I really need to get out of here" doesn't sound like something Omega Supreme would say. Not his speech pattern at all, either cartoon or IDW-style. It's a little too colloquial for him.

Yes, Omega talks about getting some energon so he can transform due to how cramped the cave is. But Bumblebee then tells him they can't spare and because it took a ton to allow Omega to alter his mode to get him into the cave, which is what suggests Omega has a new form.andersonh1 wrote:I read the exchange as Omega talking about going from robot to rocket base mode, not some new form entirely. Re: Bumblebee mini-series
In ongoing #2, he was in base mode. He'd have to go to robot mode to get all of himself into the cave, hence altering his mode. He was too low on energon in #2 to reach orbit, so he may have had too little to transform as well. I don't think there's anything but Omega Supreme's standard form implied here.Sparky Prime wrote:Yes, Omega talks about getting some energon so he can transform due to how cramped the cave is. They way they talk about altering his mode doesn't suggest simply just transforming though. It implies he scanned a new mode (thus altering it) to me. It would also explain the use of a ton of energon as such a process would understandably use a lot more energy than simply transforming would.andersonh1 wrote:In ongoing #2, he was in base mode. Re: Bumblebee mini-series
Maybe if you're Bumblebee and don't have all that many parts to change around transforming wouldn't take much energon. But if you're a robot the size of a skyscraper who turns into a small military base, then that's a lot more moving parts and a lot more weight on all of those parts to move. Not saying I'm right for sure, but I could see it. Kinda like it, too. Though now I'm curious as to what an Earth mode for Omega would be.
It kinda does, though that could suggest desperation. Like, he's that freaked out about being in such cramped quarters? Two days ago he could have been more like "Situation: Intolerable. Room to move required." and now he's just like "Look, just please lemmeout, okay?". I mean, more likely is that Cannon doesn't know for sure how Omega's s'posed to talk, but again, if there's a good story comin' out of this, I'm inclined to let it go.andersonh1 wrote:
