Your Classics Wishlist
Re: Your Classics Wishlist
Ok, I know I'm kind of zombiethreading here, but a thought occured to me and this seemed the best place to put it. I really think that the Hoist from the ROTF Hoist/Mixmaster 2-pack is a holdover from the Classics/Universe line. There's a huge difference in the overall aesthetic of the two figures. Hoist is so clean and finished, not like Mixmaster that has the "gears and parts showing everywhere" look that seems to define the movies. The head especially represents this as I don't think you could have a more direct realization of G1 Hoist's head. Couple that with the paint app, color scheme in both modes and several other details, the whole thing just screams "Classics Hoist" to me.

Um, homey? Please, please tell me that you realize that ROTF Hoist is a recolor of Longarm from the 2007 Movie line. Which he was designed for. After a Movie-aesthetic character who appeared in the corresponding video game. He has nothing to do with the Classics line. The only reason his head kinda looks like Hoist is because the designer for that toy did that as kind of a self-indulgence. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's the truth.

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
Wow. Really? I actually had no idea. Somehow must have missed that in the video game. I never bothered to look too closely at longarm so I had never seen this design in 'bot mode before. I still think this counts as a classics Hoist if anyone wanted one.

Well, yeah, I would assume that that's the general idea. Too bad they could never use the design in a comic or anything, what with it being owned by Paramount and all.
Anyway, Movie Longarm

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
That explains it. The figure does make a very good Hoist. I've got the original, with the legless Bumblebee and Mikaela driving the truck, so I haven't picked up the Hoist recolor, but it's tempting.BWprowl wrote:The only reason his head kinda looks like Hoist is because the designer for that toy did that as kind of a self-indulgence.
Re: Your Classics Wishlist
The design really would not work on a "Classics" shelf anyway though. I have tried displaying movie toys with TFU toys. It just does not work.

Re: Your Classics Wishlist
Technically, that's Screen Battles Longarm. He was also released single-packed with Orson's Towing on his doors instead of Mike's Towing. (That, of course, is a reference for Aaron Archer's old screen name.)andersonh1 wrote:That explains it. The figure does make a very good Hoist. Re: Your Classics Wishlist
Yeah, I got that one because it was a bit closer to the actual movie deco for the toy truck.
Re: Your Classics Wishlist
Well I just nabbed single packed Orson's version Longarm. Which I'm going to make into Classics Trailbreaker.
