Transformers Kingdom

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

First looks at Dinobot, Airazor, G1 Inferno, Ultra Magnus and Huffer.

Unfortunately, the images are pretty tiny, so it isn't the best look at these new figures. I really love how Airazor and Dinobot look from what we can see of them though.

Really loving the new Dinobot and Airazor figures.

Airrazor looks okay to me. I hope she's a smaller figure. Dinobot's robot form is amazing, and I think they did the best they could with his raptor form, though the tip of his tail appears to be a penis.

I like the look of Airrazor and Dinobot, but Ultra Magnus is... almost exactly like the one I have. Easy pass.

I came across the tiny "core" Optimus Prime yesterday, and I know they're also making a Starscream, and I'm sure some others.

How much do you wanna bet that those are scaled to the upcoming Titan class Ark? I honestly can't think of another reason for them.

I would say that's exactly the intent. I often have my Legends scale figures displayed in a massive battle scene with base mode city bots. And the scale isn't always perfect, but it's close enough and looks really good. I personally am probably going to pass on the Ark (no room, too expensive). And I just had the thought that if the Ark does well, it could open the door for figures of other Titans that we've seen: Carcer, Metrotitan, Velocitron, etc...

Kingdom Cyclonus is amazing, really love this figure in both modes.

Blackarachnia is pretty good for what she is, they lost the waist articulation and her alt mode could hold together better for all the extra crap in the underside, but she looks like she popped right off the screen.

Optimus Primal I'm on the fence about, he looks pretty good in bot mode but there are some issues, while beast mode is downright bleh. He's got just enough fun to get by, but it's shocking they thought they could get away with a beast mode that shabby in 2021.

Warpath is alright, transformation a little too complex for his own good, but he's fairly whole in both modes. Smaller than most deluxes while larger than minibot deluxes.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

Full beast modes are difficult. We have real for animals, and they still have to include robot parts.

Primal looks good enough in beast mode to depress me, which means it qualifies at a visceral level.

I have Primal. I was actually planning to pass on this figure because I have the POTP Optimal version and was just considering that my Primal for my beast collection. I'm pretty sure I bought this purely as an impulse stress buy. BUT I'm glad I did. In hand, he actually looks great in both modes, IMO. The pictures really don't do him justice. It's an extremely rare case where I'm really glad I actually bought a figure that I was 100% planning to pass.

I agree with that. I bought him for the awesome robot mode, and honestly both the beast AND bot modes look better in person than they do on the back-of-package CAD image.

- I only wish they wouldn't keep putting grey on his ape mode. He was all black on the cartoon.
- I also wish there was a place to hide his swords in ape mode, since hiding the weapons in the alt forms was a main schtick of the original BW line.
- I also love how the rivets for the chest are positioned like the gorilla's nipples. Nice touch, Hasbro. Honey Bear approved.
