Stupid Shockwave...

Thoughts thoughts thoughts...

I assume that since Prowl couldn't pull in ALL the allspark fragments (does that make it a Mostspark now?) that the remaining constructicons and Wreckgar are still functioning. Starscream just got his removed due to proximity, and also, his was the only spark shown for sure to be actively keeping him alive. The others may have just been activated by their fragments, but didn't need them to keep going. So sure, those ends are somewhat looser for that fact, but I assume those guys are still alive.

As for the dinobots, they weren't fragment powered from the start, and honestly? they'd kind of grown useless ever since season 2. Other than Snarl, they never participated in any battles with any Decepticons (amusing, since their toy bios all reference them munching decepticon metal or some such nonsense).

IMO, the biggest loose end of all is the fate of Ultra Magnus. I mean, they state over and over again that he's not offline, but on spark support, but it makes no real difference, does it? He might as well have been dead and made Shockwave all the more menacing. The whole Magnus Hammer thing is an intriguing little mystery to me, sort of becoming the last minute mcguffin for season 3. I'd like to have understood a bit more about why it was not only so dang powerful, but so important. Granted, it represents Magnus and Optimus is scared he's not worthy, I get it, I just kind of would've liked a bit more.

The whole Magnus/hammer thing is symptomatic of the other topic I wish had been better addressed in the finale, and that's Optimus' fate. From the first episode it sort of seemed clear that Optimus was going to ascend to being number 1 bot one way or another, but having him just show up on Cybertron amidst cheers was a little cheap. Nobody knows who this guy is! Just having Magnus maybe wake up and redeem Optimus, or something would have been a bit more satisfying. There's so much more to be done on Cybertron that we won't get to see now. Alas.

The other thing that was most the dissatisfying about the finale was poor Starscream's death. After being a severed head for a whole season, then getting blown up by Megatron, the guy zooms into earth and gets his battery yanked out by ninja magic. It just felt extremely anticlimactic. Yes yes, so he made giant bombs out of the Supreme Lugnuts, but that was an old trick. It felt like they didn't know what to do with him in the time they had, and he deserved much much better. Something poetic or ironic, and less... pointless.

It's easy to complain about these episodes, really, because I think they had an impossible task. I'll surely post more on this later.

I dunno about that. Some control art for Blurr as a cube showed he was supposed to still have a spark. He just needed someone to fix his body...

I didn't mean that they had Allspark fragments... just, what are the Autobots going to do about them? Leave them on the island alone forever? But anyway, I have to say I was really disappointed by the Dinobots in this show. They rarely ever show up, even when their island is featured in some episodes. And on top of that, Grimlock was the only one who ever spoke.

"Magnus, I can't. I'm just a soldier. I'm not worthy."
"Nor was I when the hammer was passed to me..."

Well I mean yeah, the cube was still blue. Shouldn't it have turned gray if he was offline?

Show me the cube after it went through the incinerator.

I figure, though, that it was blue so that people would know exactly what that was Shockwave had. You have no idea how pissed I was, too. That was actually the main reason I got Sunstorm over Shockwave.

Well, that and the purple. It just looked bad to me for that mold. Yes, I know.

Forgot about the incinerator but it doesn't matter because BLURR IS TOO FAST TO DIE.

I wonder if they ever fixed Rodimus Prime.

I thought it was just a trash chute, since they didn't show any flames associated with it or anything. I figure Blurr's just in a scrap pile somewhere.

I am content to assume that Blurr is dead, if only becase the damage he took would have taken its toll. So yea, lets assume that Blurr died horribly in a big trash can.

If not for Sparky mentioning the cut scene, I would have assumed that the fragment charged guys to be dead.

I really surprisingly liked this whole series. My initial reaction to the artwork was "HELL NO!" but I gave it a chance and I'm glad I did. The end did leave too many loose ends though. The episode "This is why I hate machines" should really have been relegated to about three lines of dialogue and the rest used to wrap up some of the loose ends. There's been talk that the story might be continued in the next TF show, though it won't be called TFA, a bit like Beast Machines continuing the story after Beast Wars. I'm not really concerned about the fates of the bots we didn't see, but I do think a simple cutscene showing their allspark fragments flying towards the "Mostspark" and prowl and them either continuing to live or dying as a result would have done it. Optimus's arrival on cybertron need more explaination (ie: what was that thing around his neck?) and there definately needed more for Sari and the protoforms. Knowing the behind the scenes info that they had actually intended for there to be a season 4, but Hasbro dropped the ax at the last minute, I understand why the finale turned out the way it did, but that doesn't help us to figure it out in canon.
