just got back from the convention

Post by Misanthrope Prime »

I met with a few editors who are interested in my book, nothing concrete. For all who are saying 'wtf', yes, AU, who would prefer to be called Max now, has been writing a book for about three, almost four months. And it is awesome.

Shutup, AU, nobody cares.

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

What convention with the who-now? And if the book is anything other than a tool designed to distract people while you conquer their feeble government, I'll be sorely disappointed.

I call whutevah on that one.

This would be the fantasy novel you'd mentioned awhile back, yeah? Rad. I'd read the hell outta a book you write.

So, you wanna drop some hints 'bout the nature of this beast?

And, cool that there's some interest. Good luck, yo!

Well, basically it's set in a RP universe I've had for four years now. Basically, you have your typical medieval fantasy world, you know, wizards, knights, paladins, dragons, and all... and then someone starts ruining the 'magic show' for everyone else by bringing science into it, and ends up creating an anti-magic weapon that threatens to literally tear the world apart as it cannot exist according to logical tectonic and geologic science, so basically it's my main character, who funded the project and weapon, going around and killing all of his colleagues who helped him with the weapon. Oh, and there are magic powered robots. And ogres with battletanks.

What's the difference between magic robots and golems?

(Answer: Ask your mother).

Simple. There are two kinds of magic, thaumaturgy, or normal, say-a-magic-spell-and-shit-happens magic, and alchemy, a blend of science and magic, which is less potent but less chaotic. Golems are powered by thaumaturgy and "automata" are powered by alchemy. In addition, robots are designed to move, with joints and such. a golem, unless made out of separate pieces of rock or clay, would be unfortunately incapable of motion as there are no, say, hinges where its elbows should be.
