I don't know if I should be posting in "Spring Hauls" at this point, given it's April, but I got Kingdom Black Arachnia yesterday, and I really like her much more than I'd expected. The transformation is really complicated, which is a plus for me, though I don't like how fiddly all the bits get in widow-mode. I'm having a few flashbacks to Mach Kick from BW Neo.

And speaking of widow-mode, if I have one main problem with this figure it's that she's supposed to turn into a black widow, and in that case where is the effing hourglass?! This is a plain black spider with literally one, commonly known, defining characteristic, and the markings on BA's alt-mode abdomen are actually more complicated than they need to be. Small red hourglass. That's all. What happened there, Hasbro? WHAT HAPPENED?!

Good point. I've split off the last few pages and created a Spring Hauls thread. Carry on!

She actually turns into an Australian redback spider. It's basically the same thing as a black widow, but with different markings. They call them that because down under, the black widow actually has a red stripe down it's back instead of the red hourglass on the bottom. Hasbro probably went with that since it would be more visually interesting than a solid black spider with one tiny bit of red underneath it. Either way, this still makes this the most accurate spider mode they've made so far.

Also, I've never had Mach Kick, what's wrong with that toy?

That's good. I'm glad it's an actual spider's markings, but since Black Arachnia incorrectly had the red hourglass on the top of her abdomen in the show I would have preferred that they'd gone with that again; much like Scorponok having too many limbs. Naturally accurate? No. Character accurate? Yes.

His panels require almost professional-level massaging to get into place in horse mode.

See my post in the Kingdom thread. Blackarachnia's markings are slightly different than the real spider (I think there's more red) but it's a LOT closer than the original. And for scorponok, the most inaccurate thing there is the color. I don't think there are any species of scorpions that are all gray like that. Could be wrong though.

Ah. Just like Generations Rhinox. Post Traumatic Panel Disorder.

Earthrise Doubledealer and Mego Wonder Woman and Q (from Star Trek: TNG). I skipped Doubledealer before because he just not a character I care that much about. After getting the Botropolis set with the repainted missile, and then seeing that one of his alt modes is a sort of launch platform, I decided he'd be a good addition to the whole space thing with the micromasters. And he is. I like him a lot more than I thought I would.

Got Wonder Woman for my wife who really like WW. And then of course Q because... um.. well Q.

Wal-Mart exclusive Brainstorm. This is one of the Headmaster remakes from a few years back that were recently re-released in G1 style packaging. I bought Hardhead and Skullcruncher back when these figures were originally released, but I did not have Brainstorm, so this seemed like an opportune time to get a version of the character. This version has a mouth and slightly different colors than the Titans Return version. I'm so used to seeing him with a faceplate in the IDW comics that he looks strange without one.

Yeah, I'd love to have those, but Walmart in my area sucks. There's one down the street that I absolutely refuse to go to because they literally never have anything. The toy aisle looks like the toilet paper aisles last year. There's one about a half hour away, but even that one rarely has anything. These releases are actually the Japanese versions and the different heads that went with.

Okay, that makes sense. It's nice that they got them to the US market in a creative way.

Between where I work and where I live there are five Wal-Marts in reasonable driving distance, and I've only seen these in two of them, so they've been hard to find around here as well.
