Re: SDCC 2014 Exclusives
So...why does a theme of some of your favorite music ever 'get a pass' as a toy set? I am seriously confused about this now.Shockwave wrote:It's true, I do. Oh.... ok, I think I see the misunderstanding... You mean "pass" as in it's why I'm passing on this set, like it's a strike against it. What I meant was that in an other set, "robot hair" would be unacceptable, but it "gets a pass" or is acceptable in this case due to the theme. Mostly I'm passing on this for reasons that, I'm not going to SDCC (probably ever, but that's more due to how ridiculous it is to even get tickets) and also, I'm likely to be unable to afford the price, unless it's like stupid cheap like $20 or something.BWprowl wrote:So...why does a theme of some of your favorite music ever 'get a pass' as a toy set? And yes, that does contradict what I said earlier. I changed my mind. At first I was like "Hair on a robot... uh.. just no." And then you were all like "But dude, 80's hair bands" and now I'm all like "Woah, dude, you're totally right! Excellent!" *air guitar riff*.
Also, I like how the hair is specific in it's homage, like Optimus' white hair being an obvious homage to CC Deville from Poison. Also, I'm pretty sure the name "Knights of Unicron" is a KISS reference. Back in the 70's, some parents group that was anti-KISS claimed that KISS stands for Knights In Satan's Service and someone mentioned that Unicron is basically TF Satan, so it's almost like they're Cybertronian KISS.

I feel like my favorite genre of music (chiptune) is even more fitting for a show about robots from the 80s yet you don't see me getting my own fucking exclusive set.

Every Super Mario and Mega Man figure is a Chiptune set.
That makes me think though, is this the turning point for Transformers? Remember in the early '90s when TMNT had various versions of pop-culture characters, and had stuff like Rock n Roll Turltes?

Let's not go down that road, folks.

See, that one's a camcorder, that one's a camera, that one's a phone, and they're doing "Speak no evil, See no evil, Hear no evil", get it?

You don't want Classic Trekformers? Tiberius Prime, Prowl/Spock, Dr. McCoy/Ratchet...JediTricks wrote:Every Super Mario and Mega Man figure is a Chiptune set.

What you and I would want, and what would be good for the line, are 2 different things. But Mirror-universe Spock / Shockwave would be required in that line, I say!Shockwave wrote:You don't want Classic Trekformers? SW/TF and Marvel/TF already got us through this phase, I suppose.
Oh man, I misspelled "turtles" before.

HELL YEAH!! I guess I was referring to the Classic Trek Turtles as part of that pop culture versions you were talking about.JediTricks wrote:What you and I would want, and what would be good for the line, are 2 different things. OH NO!! Not a misspelling! Welp, there goes the internets. Honestly, I didn't even notice and I'm usually a horrible grammar/spelling nazi.

Yeah, I figured that's why you were referring to Trek, those are the most famous silly TMNT pop culture figures.Shockwave wrote:HELL YEAH!! As for Mirror-Spock/Shockwave, let's just get right to it and put a mustache and goatee on a Shockwave figure and call it Mirror-Spockwave.
It was a frustrating misspell because I had erased what I had there before, so I had spelled it right then changed it to wrong. I didn't notice it was wrong until I quoted your post quoting my post and saw the underline, damn computers are making me worse at handwriting and spelling.
