Shout,Announces plans to release full cartoon series sets for AEC & TFA.

This is good news for those like myself who were waiting to get season 3 of TFA on DVD.

Hopefully Hasbro airs the Armada,Energon & Cybertron cartoons on the Hub network. This,I feel is kinda needed right now,as the Hub a few weeks/months ago removed/took off/cancelled G-1 & TFA from it's schedule/line up/air

Hey, I posted this on the front page a few days ago. :D

But I'm in agreement, I"d love to see Animated season 3, and since I've never gotten around to picking up any of AEC on DVD (and I haven't seen most of Energon or Cybertron for that matter), I might get those as well.

So when are we going to get RID on DVD?!?!?!

I think RID is tied up in some licensing snafu between Hasbro, Disney and Saban.

That's awesome that they finally found a way to get S3 of Animated out, and I too am wondering about RID, it's stuff like this that makes me hate copyright law.

Maybe, but if you wrote a book or a show or whatever and were trying to make money off of it, you'd frelling love copyright law.

Well that's a slippery slope. I mean, yeah, I understand the need for it, but when I start to hate it is when one company owns the property and the names and characters, but another company owns the show and the dvd rights and none of those companies are willing to work together for anything, they'd rather bicker endlessly screwing us fans out of ever getting freakin DVD copies of RID. Or like Disney who will just own rights just to own them and keep anyone else from doing anything with it. Basically, copyright law allows companies to be assholes.

EDIT: Incidently, I am planning on writing a book so I do understand what you're saying it's just that shit like this just really gets under my skin.

If shout ever got the liscense to release the 2001 Rid cartoon series on DVD's. Their is no doubt in my mind they'd use the USA broadcast episodes & digitally remaster them, then put them on DVD's. THE PROBLEM IS THE USA BROADCAST EPISODES HAD SOME MISSING EPISODES,MISSING SCENES & DELETED DIALOGUE DUE TO THE Sensitivity OF 9/11.

In the UK & Canada the 2001 RID broadcast cartoons episodes had no missing episodes,no deleted scenes,no deleted/muted dialogue, because 9/11 happened in america & other countries broadcast channels/viewers were less sensitive towards these 9/11 type issues.

Years ago Metrodome released the 2001 Rid complete series on DVD's in the UK-----> This version had all the episodes, all the scenes, all the dialoge words. Nothing was deleted for 9/11 viewership sensitivity issues. So if your a die hard 2001 RID cartoon series fan, this is the DVD version you want.

If anyone wants the 2001 Rid complete series,All they have to do is head on over to the Amazon UK site & type in Rid Transformers DVD's. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_nos ... rid%20dvds
On the Amazon UK site their are dozens of new & used Rid DVD's selling at decent low prices. The used ones, cost 66% less than the new DVD's.

Yes,Their is the UK DVD region code but this is a simple fix. All you have to do is play the Rid UK DVD's on your computers that have a DVD player in them. Most DVD's in Computers play all regions codes. If you don't feel like watching the Rid UK DVD's on your computer then another simple fix is to buy a cheaply priced small DVD player, most of these can hook up to any TV & play all regions,Colby is a cheaply price small compact DVD player that can play all region codes world wide.

Years ago,I went to the Amazon UK site & bought the complete 2001 Series when it was on a clearance sale for 80% off.

Actually, Shout goes above and beyond to make sure that DVD owners get the original, uncut episodes--at least as much as possible. For example, they released Rocko's Modern Life a few years ago--a show that was pretty infamous for having censorship issues and things getting cut. The first season DVD was entirely uncut and used the original broadcast masters except for one episode, which had a scene that Nickelodeon thought was so "offensive" or inappropriate that they actually had the master destroyed, so Shout couldn't use it.
Spoiler
The scene in question was from the farm episode. Heffer the cow "meets" a milking machine and uses it to do some dirty stuff. Heffer is a dude.
If Shout did get the rights to it, I have no doubt they'd use the original uncut stuff, because those edits and unaired episodes weren't done to the original masters--that was Fox doing it. (If any other network, like CN, had it, the episodes probably would have gone unedited. Fox is crazy right-wing. And you can't blame Disney because this was pre-Saban/Disney buyout.) The fact that Metronome was able to release the uncut DVDs shows that they're still out there.

It seems like Saban getting their old shows back is kind of a case-by-case basis and not a case of them buying back everything they sold Disney back then. For example, I think Digimon is still in the hands of Disney. Right now, it could be a case of Hasbro/Shout not being willing to pay whatever huge amount Disney is asking for. ("Oh, you want RID? Sure, just pay us $2 million." Hasbro is not going to shell out 2 million dollars for a 13 year old dubbed anime that only people like me care about.)

Incidentally, I had already asked Shout about this back when Headmasters and such hit (via Twitter)--their response was that they "didn't know" who had the rights, but that could be some people not actually giving a shit.

Actually, I think Saban got Digimon back. I believe they're the ones dubbing/adapting Xros Wars for that Vortexx thing they've got going now. Some company called New Video Group also did DVD-box-set releases just last year of only the dubbed/edited versions of Adventure and 02, plus both the dubs and original Japanese versions got put up on Netflix a little while ago (with truly atrocious subtitles, but they've apparently been going back and fixing those).

Yeah, I was asking about this in a topic I created several months ago, and the general consensus seems to be that "No one knows, no one cares".

Shout when they released the full series DVD's for Energon Never released that missing episode that was located in the 30's somewhere. Shout also didn't use the superior finished animation that Takara used for the Super-link cartoon series. Hasbro was in a rush for the energon cartoon series when it aired on CN,So Hasbro used un-finsihed animation episodes for energon.

For the 2001 Rid cartoon series,it aired on the UPN network in New york,I should know as I live in New York. Fox kids or Fox didn't have the exclusive broadcast rights to air the 2001 Rid cartoon series. 2001 Rid got edited with deleted scenes, missing episodes & missing dialogue due to the 9/11 Sensitivity issues. Canada & the UK aire 2001 Rid un-edited & un-deleted.

The Shout Ultimate Japanese exclusive full cartoon series like Headmasters,Masterforce & Victory are vastly inferior to the Metrodome versions. As Shout wasn't allowed to use all the special added features & additions that Metrodome had access to like those 1990's english dubs. While internet TF fans complain about the English dubs sounding awful, they were a bonus addition that Metrodome threw in for FREE,It is kinda nice to hear what the characters are saying in english instead of hearing japanese or reading sub-titles. Metrodome's did a far better digital re-mastering job & sounds effects job than shout did. Metrodome had access to the studio episodes which were of superior quality than the broadcast episodes. Should used the inferior broadcast episodes.

With all this mentioned above given Shout's record. Shout if they ever get the Liscense to do the 2001 Rid full series on DVD's. won't add in the deleted episodes, deleted scenes nor deleted dialogue,as they didn't do it with previous TF cartoon series they released on full DVD's.

Amazon Uk sellers are selling Used 2001 Rid Metrodome season 1 for under $22 USA dollars & Season for for under $22 USA equivelant dollars, this is around the price Shout would release these in America for is they got the liscense. So why wait one to Two+ years when one can just order them from Amazon UK. If you've got OCD brand new issues then cough up $45+ in USA equivelant prices for brand new sealed Metrodome amazon UK seasons 1 or 2 from amazon uk sellers.
