New Drift TPB

The modern comics universe has had such a different take on G1, one that's significantly represented by the Generations toys, so they share a forum. A modern take on a Real Cybertronian Hero. Currently starring Generations toys, IDW "The Transformers" comics, MTMTE, TF vs GI Joe, and Windblade. Oh wait, and now Skybound, wheee!

New Drift TPB

Well, this is interesting. Knew McCarthy was doing a new TF series, didn't expect this. (Somehow.) It'll either be cool or it'll suck. My money's on cool, since this will probably involve a bunch of obscure and/or cool original characters. Maybe even some of those generic Decepticons from Spotlight: Cliffjumper will show up and get names!

People spend so much time worrying about whether a figure is "mint" or not that they never stop to consider other flavours.

I had heard that this was just going to be A Novel, though that wouldn't explain the presence of an artist credit. Cover art, and some interior illustrations, perhaps?

On a related note, you would be surprised how many of the more casual Transformers collectors out there are convinced that Drift is the second coming of Tigatron.

McCarthy referred to it as a miniseries in Tweets and blog posts before. Like I said, I don't see this coming out as individual issues, so maybe it was slated to be that and then made a whole TPB? (Perhaps over concerns that McCarthy reads better as a trade?)

I must kill you! Because God told me to!

I am not seeing that. How are they getting that?

I refuse to buy it on Amazon. This is just a curmudgeonly principle of mine. Sell the damned thing at mass retail, or do not trouble me.

I like the character, so this is good news to me. It does seem odd that they'd skip the mini-series and go straight to the trade though. Maybe it is a novel.

It's the head mainly. It bears a passing resemblance to Tigatron, and it's in white, so anytime Drift pops up in a thread on /toy/ there's inevitably a bunch of casual collectors going "OMG it's totally Tigatron why are they calling him Drift I'm going to buy him because Tigatron apparently has a huge cult following that BWprowl was unaware of!"

Seriously, I'm getting freaked out at the amount of apparent Tigatron fans that are coming out of the woodwork on this one. Dude's popular.

Unless they 'are' gonna squeeze the miniseries in somehow, and it's just been unannounced, but that's not like IDW. Maybe it's, at best, four issues, with a bunch of bonus material, which means they'll have a fair bunch of time. Ironhide starts in May, but Bumblebee is over this month--so maybe Drift is the replacement for the Bumblebee book? Or maybe Drift starts concurrently with Ironhide, since Spotlight: Prowl come out in April?
