Re: GI Joe General

Any franchise based around Good Soldiers Killing Bad Soldiers that can catch *my* eye probably won't ever die- it clearly has something. Apart from the silly names, of course. Can't believe I only just got the reference with Scarlett- she's even an Atlanta native, sigh. Oh, and Torpedo's surname &qu...

Re: GI Joe General

And this is why VENOM is the best evil organization ever. I wonder if they participate in neighborhood barbecues or decorate their house up with the rest of their lane for Christmas? I dunno, but they have a communal shower, and Miles Mayhem gets mad when Floyd Malloy tries to take his radio in the...

Re: GI Joe General

Bit disappointed by the idea of Destro having an army at all, to be honest. Isn't his schtick that he's an arms dealer? O well, I guess it's almost certain he'd have private security, but 'army'... makes him a bit too much like all the rest. Hadn't even heard of the Red Ninjas, but I'm wary of 90s t...

Re: FANFIC!!

Fun. Wouldn't have been surprised to see a lot of those spots in the real deal. My BW comic was set in the 50s and framed like a B-movie where monstrous intelligent animals start plaguing mankind. Also there was a reason why Megatron was purple. =| One of my greatest sins as a writer is being unable...

Re: GI Joe General

For all I know, Cover Girl was released here, but I didn't care about GI Joe as a kid because it was Army Stuff. Though I did appreciate that one story, Hush Job, for the concept alone. Don't recall Quick Kick either, I'm afraid! The Welsh Dreadnok is Monkey Wrench, and he's from Rhyl, which is a pa...

Re: GI Joe General

My immediate reaction upon reading the first couple years' Joe tech specs (or whatever they're called; file cards?) is that a lot of its characters are surprisingly interesting to me.

I'm amazed I never heard of Cover Girl or Gung-Ho before. And there's a *Welsh* Dreadnok? Sign me up, bach

Re: GI Joe General

Is all that true of the cartoon, though? That was my main point of reference. I suppose it would be hard for them to make Stormshadow not Japanese... He's Japanese, right? "Ethnically and trained" makes me wonder. 'Cos if he's your everyday 'Murrican in appearance and voice in the cartoon,...

Re: anyone be shocked if Hasbro doesn't do a 30th Arcee toy

Yeah, The Shining and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest spring to mind, and you're right. I actually knew him as Hong Kong Phooey before I knew him as Jazz, by literally 20 minutes- it was on before the first episode of TF I ever saw. Apparently he had lung cancer while he was doing Jazz, and it's wha...

Re: GI Joe General

Was it the Marvel comics that had a creepy Venture Bros "A Nice Place to Live" artificial robo-town for Cobra's base? Or was that for something else, like maybe a bomb testing site? I think it was called Springfield. Anyway, yeah, I mainly asked because I noticed Cobra had that 80s cartoon...
