Re: Retro Comics are Awesome

Started reading The Flash by William Messner-Loebs and Greg Larocque omnibus vol 1. The title is not entirely accurate since the first 14 issues were written by Mike Baron and the first 11 were drawn by Butch Guice (used to be credited as Jackson Guice when he was drawing Superman). And they both ge...

Re: Comics are Awesome III

Today's comics: Fantastic Four #26, Green Lantern Civil Corps special #1, and another facsimile of Detective Comics #27, this time at actual size and printed old school on newsprint. It's maybe an inch wider and a quarter inch taller than modern comics, and it's as close as I'll ever come to holding...

Re: 2024 Hauls

I generally browse the Transformers when I visit the local comic book shop, and today I picked up Transformers Legacy Autobot Skids . I'd kept my eye on him when he was in stores but had never pulled the trigger, and I'm glad I didn't, because he was $16 for what looks like an unopened figure, less ...

Green Lantern/Green Arrow #84 June-July 1971 Peril in Plastic Script - Denny O'Neil Pencils - Neal Adams Inks - Bernie Wrightson This was the first issue of GL/GA I ever read, as far as I can remember. It opens the trade collection I bought way back in the day, back when trade paperbacks were not a...

Well, sort of, because apparently Sybil, the little girl with telekenetic powers, was modelled after Nixon's likeness. A...

Re: 2024 Hauls

I hate to hear that about Side Burn. Been considering whether or not to pick one up. Might want to just skip it, judging by your review. Today's haul: Superman The Triangle Era Omnibus volume 1. I remember these books quite fondly, back in the late 80s/early 90s when the four different Superman book...

Re: Comics are Awesome III

Today's comics: facsimile edition of Transformers #1 (Marvel), World's Finest #31, Zero Hour 30th anniversary special and Green Lantern #15. Looks like next month is going to start putting legacy numbering in small print beneath the current number. GL #16 is legacy #583.
