Re: Retro Comics are Awesome
Sounds like a classic case of the sequel being green-lit because the first installment was a success, but the sequel struggles to find a story and just can't live up to the original. Kind of like almost every sequel to Crisis that DC has attempted. Yeah, that's part of what happened. From backgroun...

Secret Wars II (1985) What did I just read? --- The Beyonder arrives at Earth, wishing to experience existence as a human. Naïve as to how humans function at first, Beyonder eventually falls in with the mob where he learns about money, power and control. Over some time, he learns about love and tha...

Re: Retro Comics are Awesome
Secret Wars (1984) I recently got the Secret Wars II TPB, and with the MCU news of upcoming movies, it made me want to revisit these Marvel Secret Wars storylines. Never actually read all of SWII, I only found the second issue years ago, so I'm looking forward to being able to read the whole story....

Re: Movies are awesome
The Amazing Spider-Man 1&2 - Recently re-watched both of these films. Both are mixed. I didn't think it was really necessary to completely rehash the origin story again (even if I think they handle it a little better than the Rami films), especially when a bunch of other super hero films were c...

Re: Movies are awesome
Rise of the Silver Surfer I'd have to say had some big things wrong with it. Having Galactus only show up as a shadow in a cloud that is single handedly destroyed by Silver Surfer in particular was really bad. I think they should have just focused on Silver Surfer as the 'villain' of the film, with...

Re: Movies are awesome
The Incredibles really is the best Fantastic Four movie to date. It's interesting that Fantastic Four: First Steps is reportedly going to take place in the 1960s. Makes me wonder if Marvel is taking a page from The Incredibles , since it took place in the 60s or 70s. Either way, I just hope they do...

Re: Movies are awesome
Fan4stic (aka Fantastic Four 2015) - Watched this for the first time yesterday. I can see why it didn't do well. It's such a dark take on the team, and most of the characters really don't get any development. Ben and Reed are friends from childhood, because Reed is building the teleporter. And... t...

Re: Star Trek
Trailer for Section 31 - I don't understand why Alex Kurtzman has been pushing, for years, to get this made. This looks like some generic sci-fi thriller to me. It doesn't look at all like Star Trek. Not even clear what era of Star Trek this is supposed to take place in since there is no defining S...

Re: Transformers One
The second trailer was released today. I liked this trailer a little bit more than the first. It toned down the goofiness... a little. Feels out of place to me for Orion Pax to have a middle finger joke, which just reinforces that I think the writers have taken some inspiration from Guardians of the...

Re: Star Trek
I've seen people saying it's like Admiral Janeway's time traveling in "Endgame", in that her interference in past events still happens despite the timeline she came from ceasing to exist once events were successfully changed. But that ignores the situation in Prodigy involves multiple time...
