Re: Transformers: Legacy
I can except a degree of inflation. If nothing else, that can balance against higher quality and better looking figures. But, this is too much, too fast. Voyagers were hovering around $30 last year, less just 2 years ago. Now, they are close enough to $40 that they may as well be $40. The increase i...

get ready for a price bump
Voyagers are now just shy of $40, albeit with tax. Doing some quick and extrapolatory math, that would put regular (ostensibly Deluxe) figures at a bit more than $25, basic (Scout or whatever they are called) at ~15, the $50 price point (Ultra Magnus or Scourge) over $60, and the $80 price point (li...

Re: new Shattered Glass line announced
Not sure that it would sell at mass retail. Even if the "unused color scheme" exclusives sell at WalMart this year, the concept of a "Shattered Glass" type alternate universe still has a stink on it. (I will be the first to say how much better than expected IDW's "Shattered ...

Re: new Shattered Glass line announced
I also hate the basic concept for "Shattered Glass". But, the recent series has been better than anyone had any right to expect. I just works on its own. There are Easter Eggs. But, there is no need to catch them. No multiversal stupidity. It was just competently written/illustrated comics.

new Shattered Glass line announced
Hasbro recently announced a 3rd series of "Shattered Glass" figures (exclusive to Pulse). As of now, it does not appear that the new figures will include comics. (I am somewhat relieved by this, as the only way to get the comics would be to buy the toys.) The first figure will be Grimlock ...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
I really liked "Micromasters" at the time. And, I disagree with some of the common complaints. (For example, knowing the names of individual characters is less important than what those characters are doing as a mob. It is a story about small, nameless, characters set against a larger stor...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
Currently reading "the War Within". 20 years ago, I knew enough to recognize that Furman's writing was often carried by exceptional artists, even if I liked Furman *much* more at the time than I do now. Furman is actually the single biggest reason that I used to grade licensed comics on a ...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
I am actually re-reading the McDonough/Lee mini-series now. (Anderson's thread inspired me.) Over-all, I have to agree that Dreamwave did a better job of balancing original/foundational against newer elements. Dreamwave's creative types were more interested in making a good product (comics) than in ...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
Two thoughts about Trypticon: I love that he's not the Trypticon of the tv series, so he's not stupid with a low vocabulary. He's quite articulate in fact, which makes his personality a lot of fun. And second, there's not much point in banning Combiners when bots like Trypticon, who are far worse, ...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
I think that the issues Spark described above were more due to the coloring/shading in then-modern (circa 2004) comics more than Wildman's line art. I would need to look at it again. But, I recall the art looking "off". We need more Figueroa art. Too bad Hasbro/IDW screwed him a decade ago...
