Re: IDW 2021 Halloween Special

Transformers Halloween Special: Summary: Starscream investigates a reported oddity in a dangerous/remote area, and finds his old mentor trapped in horrific circumstances. A character study ensues. This is much better than last year's "Valentine's Day Special". At the most basic level, it does not r...

Re: Spring and Summer 2022 Hauls!!

Bought volume 5 of the Ruckley series "Horrors Near and Far" collecting Transformers 31-36, The Wreckers 4 parter, the annual and the Halloween Special. I decided that at only 6 volumes I'm going to finish this entire series in hardcover, even though I have most of the issues. I think I missed a Wre...

Re: Retro Comics are Awesome

Green Lantern #46 July 1966 The cover shows a long procession of tearful Green Lanterns (and Guardians!) carrying torches and a dead Hal Jordan, a hook that immediately has me eager to read the story and learn what happened. So it's disappointing when the next page has nothing to do with the cover,...

World's Finest Comics #70 May-June 1954 The Crime Consultant! Writer: Bill Finger Art: Dick Sprang The splash page shows a bunch of crooks breaking through a hole in the wall of the Batcave, telling Batman to take off his mask since they know who he is. The story proper opens with a highway constru...

Re: IDW Transformers Comics - retro reviews

So I was debating whether to get volumes 2 and 3 of Phase 3, and after starting volume 1 up again... I think the last volume was a good place to stop. Phase 3 volume 1 is a real slog to get through, which is why I haven't reviewed anything for quite some time. Revolution #2-3 Written by John Barber ...

Transformers The War Within #1 October 2002 Story - Simon Furman, Pencils - Don Figeroa, Inks - Don Figeroa, Elaine To, Colors - Rob Ruffalo The opening G1 mini was hit and miss, but we're in good hands now. I am not someone who gripes about Simon Furman, I enjoy his Transformers writing, and Don F...

Transformers #6 Written by Chris Sarracini, Pencils by Pat Lee, Inks by Rob Armstrong, Backgrounds by Edwin Garcia I looked up Chris Sarracini's nationality, and he's Canadian, which may explain why he gives the United States a defense minister when we don't have one, and why he is off on "Central ...

Re: Transformers: Legacy

I think with Jhiaxus the most important design choice to me is that he looks like he did in the G2 comics, and though the colors are not 100%, I think the designers succeeded. To me the robot mode is the most important, because he rarely transformed, so a bit of an ad hoc jet is okay with me. I've a...

Re: TV shows are awesome

Rings of Power gets worse and worse. Whoever thought it was a good idea to write Galadriel as some angry, petulant teenager should have been fired a long time ago. At least the various reviewers on YouTube mocking the episodes are providing some entertainment. The episodes themselves are almost emba...

Detective Comics #207 May 1954 Batman the Magician! Script: Bill Finger Pencils: Sheldon Moldoff Inks: Charles Paris Batman with a Swami's turban on over his cowl is not a good look, that's all I'm saying. Thankfully the story is better than the splash page would imply. A crime boss is subjected to...
