Re: Retro Comics are Awesome

Action Comics #45 February 1942 Superman's Ark Writer: Jerry Siegel Pencils: Leo Nowak Inks: Ed Dobrotka Metropolis is supposed to be a modern, progressive city. If you ask me, no city is complete without an adequate zoo! Superman saves the Metropolis Zoo, and takes out a crazy big game hunter in t...

Re: TV shows are awesome

I'm still trying to figure out what message the episode was trying to send, because it all felt contradictory to me. Should Sam take up the Captain America mantle or not? Is Isaiah right, or is Sam right? Have we come a long way as a society or not? I didn't feel it was contradictory... I don't thi...

Re: TV shows are awesome

On a different note, I did like the confirmation that Bucky and Steve had a conversation prior to Steve's time travel to return the Infinity Stones, something it seemed like we should have seen on screen but didn't. Bucky was in on Steve's plan to stay in the past and knew what would happen with reg...

Re: IDW Transformers Comics - retro reviews

I agree, I'd like to see her work on books like that. Any ideas if she's currently working on any book for anyone? Transformers: the IDW Collection Phase 2 book 10 We're really getting into the portions of IDW1 continuity that I have never read before now, apart from the issues of former RID/Transfo...

Re: Beast Wars (2021) ongoing series

Oh yeah, Dinobot knew what he was getting into. There's no doubt about that. But it turns out to be more than he's willing to tolerate, so will he be as conflicted as tv Dinobot was? Or will he come to embrace the Maximal cause once he gets to know Primal and his crew? Like I said, I do like that we...

Re: Beast Wars (2021) ongoing series

Finally got over to the comic book shop to pick up issue 3. Since my main complaint with the series so far has been that it hews too closely to the tv show, I can't really complain when Dinobot's defection from the cause has a mostly different reason (though he still calls Megatron an incompetent le...

Re: Comics are Awesome III

Sounds like I should be glad I stopped reading GL after Blackest Night ended. I thought Geoff Johns ran out of gas at the end, but I enjoyed most of Venditti's run (it was the only New 52 book I didn't drop) through the end of the New 52 and into Rebirth when it was Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern...

Re: IDW Transformers Comics - retro reviews

Windblade #4-5 Mairghread Scott, Corin Howell Wow, the art has gone from beautifully drawn by Sarah Stone to cartoony and painful to look at by Corin Howell. This feels like art that belongs in a gag strip, not a book intended to be serious drama. I don't like it at all. Yes, we got a few pages of ...

Re: Comics are Awesome III

Green Lantern #1 - I thought Grant Morrison's series was great when it started, and really off the rails and confusing by the end, but if nothing else it was distinctive. It stood out from the type of series that both Geoff Johns and Robert Venditti had written. Now we're back to a more standard sp...
