Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through

Trypticon is great in issue 4. Easily my favorite version ever. Transformers War Within: The Dark Ages #4 January 2004 Writer - Simon Furman, Pencils - Andrew Wildman, Inks - Erik Sander I love the way Trypticon speaks in this issue, and that he's intelligent. Makes a nice change from the way I'm us...

Re: Retro Comics are Awesome

There's no "anniversary issue" hype for 50 issues of Green Lantern in 1967. It's just another issue. Seems like a modern day approach would have left the big changes in Hal's life that we got in #49 until #50, with a big "It's a major turning point... for GREEN LANTERN!!!!" blasted on the cover. But...

Transformers War Within: The Dark Ages #3 December 2003 Writer - Simon Furman, Pencils - Andrew Wildman, Inks - Erik Sander Springer cuts loose as we see just why Combiners were not employed, even in this tribal environment. There's some good dialogue here that conveys the threat nicely. "We're sit...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through

I think that the issues Spark described above were more due to the coloring/shading in then-modern (circa 2004) comics more than Wildman's line art. I would need to look at it again. But, I recall the art looking "off". The coloring/shading certainly didn't do the art any favors, these issues were ...

Transformers War Within: The Dark Ages #2 November 2003 Writer - Simon Furman, Pencils - Andrew Wildman, Inks - Erik Sander We open with the Fallen staring us in the face, praising Bludgeon, Bugly and Mindwipe for doing their work at the Well of All Sparks "admirably". When Bludgeon wants more than...

Re: Retro Comics are Awesome

Some thoughts after nearly finishing Golden Age Superman volume 7, which covers mid 1948 through August 1950. I have enjoyed GA Superman 7, so let me preface everything that follows with that. I like the book, and I hope for more volumes. But I think volume 7 is my least favorite of the seven Golden...

Re: Fall 2022 Hauls!!

Got another big non-Transformers haul: the complete Gunsmoke on DVD. That's a massive box set that will take me forever to watch all the way through. Started watching a few of these on some of the free streaming channels and decided it was a great series that I'd love to see more of, and it was ulti...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through

Good points, Dom. On to WW2- The Dark Ages. I'm very curious to re-read this one and see if I have the same reaction to it that I did in 2003. I was less than enthused about a lot of it, but I imagine I'll enjoy it more now. We will see. Transformers War Within: The Dark Ages #1 October 2003 Writer ...

Re: Fall 2022 Hauls!!

And the other two books that got delayed about six months arrived today: the Starman Compendium vol. 2 and Silver Age Batman Omnibus vol. 1 . They jumped ahead with Batman, they still need one more omnibus to finish up the Golden Age, so hopefully I'll be able to fill that gap on my bookshelf sooner...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through

Transformers G1 volume 2 #6 August 2003 "War and Peace" Ch. 6 "Revelaion" Writer - Brad Mick, Pencils - Pat Lee, Inks - Rob Armstrong Right off the bat, I have to say that I like the whole "global stasis lock" idea that is introduced here. I've never thought the Autobot/Decepticon war could continu...
