Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
Two thoughts about Trypticon: I love that he's not the Trypticon of the tv series, so he's not stupid with a low vocabulary. He's quite articulate in fact, which makes his personality a lot of fun. And second, there's not much point in banning Combiners when bots like Trypticon, who are far worse, ...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
I think that the issues Spark described above were more due to the coloring/shading in then-modern (circa 2004) comics more than Wildman's line art. I would need to look at it again. But, I recall the art looking "off". We need more Figueroa art. Too bad Hasbro/IDW screwed him a decade ago. (I doubt...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
This is a great payoff and explanation for all that has occurred so far. But we know Shockwave is still not telling the entire story, because he does not mention Scourge or the Sharkticons, so there is more to be told. I had assumed that Shockwave was being hyper rational. (Why would he bother to t...

Re: Shattered Glass II
Just going to do a quick infodump. (Life has been busy of late. Things are okay. But, I do not have time to post as regularly as I might like.) Issue 4 focuses on Flamewar (the BotCon character). Lore does a good job of keeping the character's defining traits (being mouthy) recognizable, but applyin...

Re: Transformers: Legacy
The scale for BW figures is tricky. While it was not as bad as G1, "Beast Wars" including a fair amount of size changing. Depending on which scenes you are remembering, and what the toy designers are using as reference, a toy could be perfect or massively out of proportion. Inferno's facade ant legs...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
Lee's art tried to combine Sunbow control art with the toys, sometimes with mixed results. (The sequence with Octane's head is one more reason that Slag is one of my favorite characters.)

Re: Comics are Awesome III
If you do not like King, you ain't gonna like Tamaki. I liked "the Visions". But, I am not specifically a fan of King. I dropped the "Son of Kal El" when it got pulled in to a cross-over that required me to buy other stuff not written by Tom Taylor. Sticking with "Nightwing" for now. I have to first...

Re: Transformers: Legacy
The whole wave is an easy skip for me. I can appreciate the retro sensibilities of the Targetmaster. But, the gun-bot having no articulation is unacceptable. Skullgrin is everything I have not liked about Hasbro using the Pretender characters for the last decade. (Why the hell are they not making ac...

Re: Dreamwave G1 read-through
I like McDonough's writing.
But, I wanted more from Sarracini. (I want not completely done with Furman 20 years ago. But, I was not happy with hoe DreamWave sidelined Sarracini so quickly on "Armada".

issue 3
The 3rd issue of "Shattered Glass II" is also the 3rd from final issue of IDW's run with the license. Much like the previous 2 issues (and the previous "Shattered Glass"), this issue rests on the sort of base-level competence that has been lacking at IDW for most of the last 10 years (since "Dark Cy...
